Giancarlo Esposito has claimed fans will never be able to guess his mystery MCU role, but "there will be a series" with his character in the future.

As reported by CinemaBlend, Esposito recently attended Phoenix Fan Fusion, where he dropped a few more hints about his MCU debut. The actor, known for playing villains such as Gustavo Fring and Moff Gideon, revealed his Marvel character will get a fair bit of screen time as he will eventually appear in his own TV show.

"The MCU has knocked on my door and it's a role you won't predict," the actor teased while appearing on stage at the event, according to a post by Legion of Sand on X/Twitter. "It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards."

Speculation has been rife about Esposito's role ever since he announced at CCXP, per Collider, that he is joining the MCU and that his character will arrive "sooner rather than later." Some thought he might take on the MCU's version of Professor X, but Esposito hinted it was a different role and "better than you can imagine."

Esposito initially "put it out in the universe" in 2022 that he would like to play Professor X, but has since made it clear it wouldn't be without some changes. In particular, he couldn't envision his version of the mind-bending X-Men leader being in a wheelchair, even though he recognized it as "part of his character development."

With Professor X now seemingly crossed off the list of possibilities, it's anyone's guess who Esposito could be playing and when or where he might show up — but, judging by the actor's comments, it won't be too long until we find out.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the next movie on the MCU slate (and the only one for 2024). It is already confirmed to have numerous cameos, including a possible appearance from Doctor Doom, expanding the MCU further before more characters join the fold in the likes of The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts* next year.
