Marvel Studios Returning to San Diego Comic-Con for Another Hall H Panel

We still don't have any official schedule announcements for San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2024 yet, but we do know one major studio who will be returning to Hall H.

Deadline reports today that Marvel Studios will be headed to the annual convention for another big presentation next month. SDCC 2024 will take place July 25-28 (Thursday-Sunday) and, as the report notes, Marvel typically has its tentpole panel in the late afternoon on Saturday, although nothing has been confirmed yet. IGN understands the Deadline report to be accurate.

The news comes after a subdued SDCC 2023, with a lack of celebrity appearances and massive panels due to the duel writers' and actors' strikes that were happening at the time. Marvel skipped a Hall H panel last year, but has been known to make huge announcements at the Con, including unveiling the Multiverse Saga slate at its 2022 presentation.

What Could Be There?

As for what Marvel could be showing off, that's still up in the air, but we can make a few educated guesses. For one, as Deadline points out, Deadpool & Wolverine is premiering in theaters that very same weekend, so appearances from stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds wouldn't be out of the question.

Looking at the upcoming film slate, Captain America: Brave New World is next on the schedule (February 14, 2025) and that's completed filming, so that would be another solid bet. It's also already showed off some footage behind closed doors at CinemaCon a few months ago. Thunderbolts* is currently in production and could have some footage to present, and while the new Fantastic Four film hasn't begun filming yet, the mere presence of the starry cast (Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach) would make enough of a splash.

Regardless of filming status, there are any numbers of announcements it could make in regards to upcoming movies like Avengers 5 (possibly a new official title for that, as it's reportedly no longer being called The Kang Dynasty), Avengers: Secret Wars, Blade, and more.

As for the TV slate, Disney has already showed footage of three upcoming Marvel shows — Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha All Along, and Ironheart — at its Upfronts presentation in May. It also has upcoming series like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, Wonder Man, X-Men '97 Season 2, Marvel Zombies, and Vision Quest.

It's also worth noting that it's a D23 year, with Disney and probably Marvel headed back to Anaheim, Calif., from August 9-11, so it's likely the studio will want to save some announcements for that.

Marvel Studios did not respond to IGN's request for comment on Deadline's report.
