Bleach stands as one of shonen's classic Big Three, but it was held back by some serious problems that Naruto and One Piece did not have. One of the biggest issues was Bleach's constant use of contrived power-ups, which is a big problem for any shonen action series. Many shonen titles, even the greats like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, are guilty of doing this, but Bleach actually seemed to rely on it.
