First introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, Brutalities once served a very different purpose in Mortal Kombat than they do now. Back then, Brutalities were essentially an extremely long combo that served as another form of Fatality, albeit much more complicated to pull off, and generally not as cinematic as their Fatality counterparts. The pay-off: an explosion of bones that contained way too many skulls, legs, and arms to have possibly come from one human being.
