Introduced in 1939, Superman has had the fortune of having multiple 100th anniversary issues, or centennials. With anniversary issues, fans often expect one of two types of stories. Either they're looking for celebratory anthology stories, or issues about the next big stage in a hero's saga, often culminating in a major event.
