In many ways, Scream 2 and Scream VI have similar plots because Tara (Jenna Ortega) heads off to college like Sydney (Neve Campbell). The major difference was Scream 2 took risks by killing a beloved character, Randy (Jamie Kennedy), unexpectedly and gruesomely. Scream VI avoided killing anyone important despite having the highest body count. The film's director, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, explained that the film was supposed to be a "feel-good" movie. Slasher movies and the word "feel-good" don't usually go together -- and that's for a reason.
