We finally have a very tiny first glimpse at the highly anticipated Beetlejuice sequel, as well as a pretty fitting new official title: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. (I have to assume that means it’s going for the trilogy special of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," but I digress.)

Warner Bros. revealed the title, as well as a look at the first poster, on Thursday. It also boasts a September 6, 2024, release date. That release date isn’t new, but it is notable to see that it’s still sticking with that post-Labor Day weekend premiere following last year’s dual writers’ and actors’ strikes, which pushed back a large number of 2024 films.

You can see the poster below, which doesn’t give away too much else, aside from the spooky vibes that we’re all expecting from the long-in-the-making follow up.

The journey to the sequel has been a long one, and not just because it’s been more than 35 years since the 1988 original. We first heard word of a Tim Burton-directed Beetlejuice sequel alllll the way back in 2011, with it going through various stages of development hell over the following decade.

It was officially resurrected, however, last year, with Warner Bros. showing off a brief sizzle reel of logos at CinemaCon 2023. Burton announced that it had completed filming with an Instagram post last November.

Burton’s return isn’t the only big one in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice; Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara are set to reprise their roles in the sequel. It’s also been reported that Wednesday star Jenna Ortega will play the daughter of Ryder’s Lydia character, joining other series newcomers Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci.

The original Beetlejuice, of course, was a massive success, grossing $75 million worldwide (per Box Office Mojo) on a reported $15 million budget and inspiring various adaptations, including a Broadway musical.
