Alientrap Games has announced DuneCrawl, an upcoming open-world online co-op privateering adventure where you and your friends explore the sand seas aboard your Dune Crawler, a huge walking crustacean outfitted with cannons and treasure maps. It's due out in the first half of 2025 on Steam.
The developers say, "Travel through sprawling, lush, hand drawn environments to unfold the story surrounding the mystery of the Dune Crawlers. Interact with quest-giving NPCs, defend the local towns from bandits, discover hidden plunder, ride armored scarabs and defend your title as the greatest freebooter this side of the seven sands." Check out the announcement trailer above and the first screenshots in the gallery below.
More succinctly, an Alientrap representative described DuneCrawl as "as a mix of Sea Of Thieves, Lovers In A Dangerous SpaceTime, and a bit of Tunic/Zelda." It will support local and online co-op for up to four players. In single-player mode, AI companions will help you aboard your ship.
Wishlist DuneCrawl on Steam if you're interested in following its progress throughout development.
