The Amazon Black Friday Sale has officially started, and one of the best deals we've seen so far is the flagship 49" Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 G93SC gaming monitor for only $999.99. That's $600 less than MSRP and easily the best deal we've seen for Samsung's flagship gaming monitor. In fact, it's $400 less than the best price during Amazon's October Prime Day sale.

Note that there is another similar monitor called the G95SC. It has the exact same panel as the G93SC, however it has two TV centric features: Smart TV functionality and PiP. It's also on sale for $1199.99, but for most gamers the G93SC is a much better value for the same quality monitor.

49" Samsung Odyssey OLED G9: The Best Ultra-Wide Gaming Monitor

The Odyssey OLED G9 replaces the Neo G9 as Samsung's highest end Odyssey G-series gaming monitor. Unlike the Neo G9, which uses a Mini-LED panel, the OLED G9 uses a quantum dot OLED panel. OLED panels boast individual self-lit OLEDs that can turn on and off independently of each other, which allows for true blacks and incredible contrast ratios. The image quality, especially in HDR, is far better than what you'll see with traditional IPS, VA, or TN panels. Samsung's quantum dot (or QD) OLED panels are even better because they are brighter and support a wide color range than regular OLED panels.

Samsung's OLED G9 also offers plenty of other features you'd come to expect in a premium gaming monitor, like a blazing fast 0.3ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate, HDR True Black 400 certification (which, by the way, is a higher rating than even HDR1400), both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort connections, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support (it's also NVIDIA G-Sync "compatible).

Although the OLED G9 isn't a true 4K monitor, it still has plenty of pixels packed into the 49" display. This is an ultra-wide monitor with the same resolution as two 27" monitors stacked next to each other. In fact, the horizontal pixel count (5,120 pixels) is actually greater than a traditional 4K monitor (3,840 pixels). That, combined with an 1800R curve, allows for maximum immersion during gaming.

Obviously the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 isn't a monitor for everyone. You need a rather generous gaming budget if you want to add this to your rig. The cost keeps many us gamers at bay, but certainly the barrier to entry has been significantly lowered with this early Black Friday deal today.
