The Marvels is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest big-screen offering, though the film owes a lot to Marvel Studios' output on the small screen. While The Marvels is partially a sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel, the film also sees Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel make the jump from streaming to MCU movies, following the two stars' MCU debuts in WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, respectively. Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury also returns for a reunion with Carol Danvers, following on from his recent leading role in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion, which featured some shocking revelations concerning the Skrulls and the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
