Fans are destined to see another Superman and Batman on the big screen. But to keep things unique, the DC Universe should include more female superheroes (and villains) to bring a fresh perspective to this new franchise. Casting Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl is an excellent first step. But in order to really hit the ground running in the DCU, James Gunn needs to learn from the mistakes of the DC Extended Universe and evolve from what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done so far with its female voices.
