Gen V's executive producer Eric Kripke recently revealed how the show will handle Andre Anderson's sudden absence following the death of actor Chance Perdomo.

Speaking with TVLine, Kripke revealed that Perdomo's character will also pass away on screen at the beginning of the season. Gen V producers previously confirmed in a statement published last month that it had no intentions of recasting the character of Andre Anderson, noting that it was recrafted storylines in season 2 to reflect Anderson's absence.

"First, it's just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family," Kripke told TVLine. "We're not trying to replace him because we can't. We're playing the character's death on the show. So it's very heavy and it's really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we're just trying to honor Chance as best we can."

Perdomo unfortunately passed away in late March at the age of 27 following a motorcycle accident. After his passing, Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures said, "The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo."

Gen V is a spinoff of the Prime Video series The Boys, set in a college specifically for young adult superheros. A second season is currently in the works, and the show is a spinoff of The Boys, which is returning for a fourth season starting on June 14.

In our review of the first season of Gen V, IGN wrote: "Prime Video hit the jackpot with Gen V, a spinoff that asserts its dominant presence as both a standalone series and in-universe continuation.
