Horror is such a compelling genre because these terrifying tales have almost endless freedom when it comes to their threats. Horror movies can feature wild monsters, supernatural and psychological dangers, or masked murderers who thrive on chaos. An antagonist’s look is paramount in any horror movie and in the case of many slasher films this puts tremendous weight on the killer’s mask. These villains don’t usually talk and so their masks become the primary way in which they inspire fear.
