Netflix has shared a first look at the Fire Nation in its live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, including fan-favourite characters Uncle Iroh and Princess Azula.

The images, below, also reveal a proper look at Prince Zuko without his helmet alongside his father Fire Lord Ozai and Commander Zhao. Netflix has previously only shared a look at the series' main characters including Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Prince Zuko, which we've included alongside the five new Fire Nation images in the gallery below.

Uncle Iroh is played by Paul Sun-Hyung (of The Mandalorian), Princess Azula by Elizabeth Yu, Fire Lord Ozai by Daniel Dae Kim, Commander Zhao by Ken Leung, and Prince Zuko by Dallas Liu. Additionally, protagonist Aang is played by Gordon Cormier, Katara by Kiawentiio, and Sokka by Ian Ousley.

The full cast was revealed in September 2022 but the live action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series was first announced way back in 2018. Netflix will presumably adapt the first season of the show, similar to how the One Piece live action adapted the first arc of the manga, into eight, hour-long episodes.

Season 1 of the animated series, called Book 1: Water, follows Aang as he looks to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar: master of the four elements of water, earth, fire, and air. Joined by friends Katara and Sokka, the trio travel to the Northern Water Tribe to find Aang a water-bending teacher, all the while being pursued by the evil Fire Nation's Prince Zuko, who must capture the Avatar to regain his honour.

The show has been widely praised for the depth and nuance of its characters and world, which are considered to compete with series developed with an adult audience in mind. IGN even placed it 21st in our best TV shows of all time list, beating the likes of Succession, Better Call Saul, and Friday Night Lights.

"Avatar Aang’s world-saving story balances its Buddhism-influenced takes on war and peace with moments of silly, youthful adventure," we said. "From blind earthbender Toph to scorned prince Zuko to wise Uncle Iroh, the show is chock full of characters worth loving, each with their own stunning story arc."
