After premiering the first teaser trailer earlier this month, Marvel Studios has provided additional information on Captain America: Brave New World at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.
During the panel on Saturday, Marvel officially revealed that Giancarlo Esposito will play Seth Voelker, aka Sidewinder, the king of the Serpent Society, in next year’s Captain America: Brave New World.
Esposito’s character was first glimpsed in the recently released trailer for Brave New World but this is the first official confirmation that he will be the leader of the nefarious Serpent Society.

The introduction of the Serpent Society in Brave New World pays off a prank that Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige pulled on fans almost a decade ago where Feige first announced that the third Cap movie would be Captain America: Serpent Society before revealing later in their panel that it was actually Captain America: Civil War.
As mentioned previously, Marvel Studios provided the official teaser trailer for Captain America: Brave New World a few weeks ago. Setting up what the plot will focus on while also showing glimpses of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America, along with glimpses of actors such as Harrison Ford as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross / Red Hulk, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, among others.
The first trailer also provided a glimpse of Giancarlo Esposito, who was hired to join the MCU last May; despite his official role not being disclosed, some fans think they have a good idea of who Esposito is portraying in the upcoming Captain American film.
Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters on February 14, 2025. For more info on the characters set to appear in the film, check out our explainers on Isaiah Bradley and our piece on who the Red Hulk is.
