Back in 2010, Stephen King collaborator Frank Darabont was recruited to develop a television adaptation of a little-known zombie comic series. The first season of The Walking Dead was heavy-handed in horror elements, with obvious influence from King's most spine-chilling novels and novellas. The most obvious connection between King and The Walking Dead, though, was with the 2007 adaptation The Mist.
