Apple is making a major push to be more friendly to the environment, from dramatically reducing plastic usage to shipping materials overseas. This includes sunsetting leather wristbands for its Apple Watch series, which it showcased during its Apple Wonderlust event.
The leather wristands will be replaced with a new "FineWoven" material that is designed to be soft, comfortable, and colorful. Apple will also be working with Nike on new sport bands created using recycled materials.
Apple also confirmed that it will no longer be utilizing leather in its products, meaning that leather iPhone cases are on their way out as well. The cases will continue supporting Apple's MagSafe magnetic chargers, wallets, and other items.
Apple's ultimate goal is to make the Apple Series 9 its first carbon neutral product.
The announcement was part of Apple's big showcase revealing the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9, as well as news that major console games such as Resident Evil 4 Remake will be coming to mobile. You can find everything announced at Apple's Wonderlust event here.
