Pokémon Horizons: The Series' debut on Netflix has been delayed in the United States, and will now premiere on March 7.
Revealed in a post on X/Twitter, this marks a delay just short of two weeks for the highly anticipated series that sees Pokémon move beyond Ash Ketchum for the first time. The Pokémon Company originally announced a February 23 release date.
"We know fans around the world are looking forward to local debuts of the highly-anticipated, new animated Pokémon series, and it's almost here," the post said. "Get ready for adventure with Liko, Sprigatito and friends in the world of Pokémon!"
The series has already debuted in English in the UK, with the BBC premiering Pokémon Horizons in December 2023, meaning U.S. fans are having to wait even longer still following the delay.
Based on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea Region, the new series still stars an iconic Pikachu. Though it's not the one we know, Captain Pikachu features heavily as the partner Pokémon of another new character called Friede, a friend of dual protagonists Liko and Roy.
"Arriving at Indigo Academy, a girl named Liko receives her first partner Pokémon, Sprigatito. But she soon finds herself pursued by the Explorers, a mysterious group that’s determined to take the pendant necklace she wears," reads the official synopsis.
"Liko isn’t on her own, though, as Friede, Captain Pikachu, and the other Rising Volt Tacklers offer her protection aboard their airship. Meanwhile, a boy named Roy dreams of becoming a Pokémon Trainer, unaware of the secret hiding within the Ancient Poké Ball he carries. As Liko, Roy, and the Rising Volt Tacklers set sail for new horizons, what kind of discoveries await?"
