Dune is almost as well known for its creatures and unique peoples as it is for its sprawling worlds. From the schlag, a giant bison-like animal nearly hunted to extinction for its unique hide, to the monstrous sandworms of the alien world of Arakkis. In fact, part of what makes Frank Herbert's series so fascinating is the immersive nature of its flora and fauna.
