The first teaser for the upcoming Fallout TV show has been revealed at gamescom 2023, but won’t be released to the public.

At a presentation for Bethesda’s upcoming space opera RPG, Starfield, creative director Todd Howard surprised attendees with a sneak peek at Prime Video’s television adaptation of Fallout. Helmed by Westworld’s Jonathan Nolan, the show looks set to feature plenty of fan-favourite aspects from the games.

In the short trailer there were glimpses of the Brotherhood of Steel ominously marching across a dusty desert reminiscent of more urban version of Dune’s Arrakis setting, their iconic Vertibird vehicles, a vault opening as a woman shielded her eyes from the sun, multiple nuclear explosions taking place in what looks like a present-day setting, and a shot of who we presume is Walter Goggins’ ghoul character who bore more than a passing resemblance for Fallout 4’s John Hancock.

While we only had a very small look at the show, it’s clear that the production values are high, with the visual effects looking impressive. What we do know is that the story will be separate from any of the games, which Todd Howard confirmed in November of last year.

"There will be bigger teasers later.

"One of the movies that inspired Starfield was Interstellar, written by Jonathan Nolan," Howard said during the presentation. "And I got to know Jonah, and I always wanted to make a Fallout TV show. So I talked to Jonah about it and we have been making the Fallout TV show. We don't ever plan on putting this out. There will be bigger teasers later."

Very little else is known about the Fallout TV show as of now, but we might not be waiting too long to find out more. The trailer ended with a 2024 release window, signalling we aren’t too far away from seeing it in all its glory.

If you need a catchup, here's everything announced at gamescom Opening Night Live 2023.
