Studio Ghibli produces high-quality films with many subtle layers and well-thought-out details. They don't feel the need to walk the audience through every plot point, foreshadowing, and bit of backstory. Details that come off to the audience as odd little throwaways — or even mistakes — actually hold a lot of meaning for the theme and plot. There are even Easter Eggs in some that tie back to previous Ghibli movies.
