Severance fans are celebrating as production has resumed on Season 2 of the acclaimed workplace thriller after a lengthy delay due to the Hollywood strikes.

The official Apple TV+ account on X/Twitter posted a grainy, black-and-white image of Adam Scott's Mark Scout running down a hallway while being filmed by a camera, also in shot. Executive producer Ben Stiller quote-retweeted the image with a caption to declare that it's "back to work" on Severance Season 2.

The image description confirms Scott and his co-workers are clocking in for another day at the office. "A black and white action shot of Mark S. (Adam Scott) running down a long white hallway," it reads. "On the right side of the picture is a large camera recording the scene, confirming Severance Season 2 is in production."

The Season 2 update delighted fans who have been waiting for some news about the production ever since it shutdown last year. Severance stopped shooting in May 2023 when the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced its members would go on strike as part of a move that impacted numerous TV shows and movies.

Severance was renewed for a second season in April of 2022 thanks to the show's immense consumer and critical acclaim following its premiere in February of the same year, and the new season features some big names on its cast list, in addition to returning cast members like Patricia Arquette and John Turturro.

The series, helmed by creator and writer Dan Erickson and director and executive producer Ben Stiller, is one of the most talked about sci-fi entries in the Apple TV+ library. It follows Mark Scout, a team leader at Lumon Industries, where employees undergo a "severance procedure" that separates their work and personal lives.

The first season of Severance was beloved for its thrilling and chilling story of office culture, with IGN awarding the season premiere a 9/10, saying, "the excellent cast, eerie visuals, and offputting score make every moment of the first two episodes feel worth the ride" and "leaves plenty of room for the characters to evolve."
