Tennis superstar Serena Williams is a huge Avatar: The Last Airbender fan apparently, declaring herself "obsessed with the show" in a promotional video for the incoming Netflix series.
Netflix uploaded the video on X/Twitter, showing the behind the scenes of a Williams-starring advertisement for the Netflix live action adaptation.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner enters the Avatar State in the video, with arrows glowing along her body to match Aang's, and shares which character she'd be most afraid of in a tennis match.

"The toughest competition... Aang could probably get a lot of power from the wind," she said. "Katara? No. I got her. I would say Aang." Williams said she'd been a fan of the show since it first came out in 2005 too.
The Netflix adaptation, which premieres on February 22, was announced way back in 2018.. It stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, and Paul Sun-Hyungas as Uncle Iroh . Netflix shared a first look Aang in friends in June 2023 before revealing the Fire Nation characters in October.
We've now seen plenty of the show, however, and its producers have made clear it's going to be quite different from the beloved animated series. "This is a remix, not a cover," they told IGN earlier this month.
