Netflix’s long-running bleak anthology series, Black Mirror, is coming back for Season 7 next year, and it’s bringing a sequel to fan-favorite episode USS Callister with it.
The streaming platform announced the news during its Next on Netflix event in London (via The Hollywood Reporter), later bringing public confirmation with a cryptic message on X/Twitter. The post contains a video teasing the six episodes, and judging by the familiar logo that appears, it sounds like the third will be the one to give us our USS Callister sequel.

While fans love to look for connections between each of Black Mirror’s standalone episodes, a full-on return to a storyline brings new territory to cover. USS Callister introduced us to its world in Season 4, telling a Star Trek-esque story that feature notable cast members like Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad), Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street), and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld).
“Capt. Robert Daly presides over his crew with wisdom and courage,” Netflix’s official description for the original episode says. “But a new recruit will soon discover nothing on this spaceship is what it seems.”
Those who have seen USS Callister (EPISODE SPOILER TO FOLLOW) will remember that the captain met a terrible fate by the time the story concluded. Netflix references this in a short teaser description for the follow-up, though further details remain a mystery.
“Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning,” the company said.
Black Mirror Season 7 was renewed by Netflix late last year. While USS Callister will see the series returning to some familiar ground, the other five episodes seem to tell all-new stories, keeping with the show’s usual anthological storytelling structure.
After a long break in between episode drops, Black Mirror returned with Season 6 last year. We felt this latest installment was a bit of a mixed bag, giving it a 6/10 in our review. At the time, we said, “Black Mirror season 6 expands beyond dystopian science fiction, but only two of five episodes are bright spots.”
