While it is best known for its humor characters like Archie Andrews and his gals 'n' pals, Archie Comics has a long history of superhero characters, not only in the Golden Age, where it was mostly a superhero and action hero comic book company before the creation of its first major humor character (who was, interestingly enough, not actually Archie), but also in the 1960s, when the superhero boom led to every comic book company trying to do superheroes, and finally, in the 1980s, when Archie launched "Red Circle," a line of comics reintroducing its superheros from the 40s and 60s, plus some new heroes.
