Captain America as a mantle has largely been defined by Steve Rogers in the Marvel Universe. While the hero is a valiant symbol of hope and justice, other characters have also stepped up to try and take on the role. Many of them have gone down in the history books for both the right and wrong reasons, but each figure truly made the role of Captain America their own.
