Since the series debut, Spy x Family has done a surprising job of turning the usual tropes around and creating something new. Each of the three main characters is an example of this trend within the series. Yor is a twist on the femme fatale trope; Loid is meant to be like James Bond but is clueless when it comes to relationships; and Anya is widely knowledgeable thanks to her mind-reading powers but is far from the smartest person. Though Anya's best friend, Becky Blackbell, is not the most important character, she also subverts expectations.
