When James Wan began crafting his supernatural vision beginning with 2010's Insidious, it became clear he'd become a modern master of horror. His technical grasp and execution were on-point, proving he had an eye for the macabre. The Conjuring, three years later did its own take on The Exorcist as well. It proved how Wan could deftly blend ghosts and demons, paving the way for the likes of Annabelle, Lights Out and The Nun.
