George Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo boxing manga has produced more than 138 volumes ever since its debut in '89 and it's become one of the most popular deconstructions of boxing in anime and manga. Hajime no Ippo, which is also sometimes known as Fighting Spirit, received its first anime adaptation in '00, which beautifully translates high schooler Ippo Makunouchi's boxing trials and tribulations to fluidly animated action sequences.
