After this month's in-game teases of Revenant getting a major change up, the time is finally here! Apex Legends Season 18 Resurrection sees the huge rework of Revenant, completetly changing the way his Legend kit works. Not only are his abilities completetly altered, but there are major weapon changes on the way, and new gameplay updates. The new season Resurrection launches August 8th so here’s everything you need to know to prepare.

Revenant Reborn

Revenant has been reworked with a new set of abilities. Here’s how Revenant’s kit works now:

  • Assassin’s Instinct (Passive): Revenant wall climbs and crouch walks faster and now highlights low health enemies and hit enemies will be shown for everyone on team. There's no max amount of players that can be highlighted at once, but it does just highlight players who are nearby and damaged.
  • Shadow Pounce (Tactical): Revenant can lunge forward or hold the charge to leap further (think of how shadows melee lunge in Shadow Royale).
  • Forged Shadows (Ultimate): Revenant creates shadows around him like a shield to block damage. He can recharge this shadow shield and his tactical ability when he gets knockdowns.

For players who don’t have Revenant unlocked, he will be free all season long free to use. But if you want to unlock him permanently, Revenant can be obtained by completing some challenges.

Weapon Changes

As with every season update, there have been a few weapon changes made to try and balance gameplay. All SMGs are getting a slight nerf with lowered headshot multipliers and less mag capacity.

The R-99 is getting an increase in vertical recoil and a decrease in base ammo capacity. Eric Canavese, Lead Weapons Designer, wanted to give Shotguns a season to shine and that’s been reflected in seeing the Mastiff getting its blast pattern tightened for consistency.

The Charge Rifle has been reworked as well. It will no longer be a hitscan and will be instead a projectile based weapon that will also have bullet drop. There will no longer be the prefire beam and will have different handling timings with reloads and draws. It won’t automatically fire and it will have to charge, like the Titanfall Charge Rifle where you had to fully charge the weapon before it would actually fire. It’s still a remaining a Sniper Rifle and will now do more damage the further a target is.

Care Package weapons have been switched around for Season 18. The Prowler is going to be a drop weapon with the Select-Fire Hop-Up attached allowing it to swap between burst and automatic fire. The Hemlock is back on ground loot and is getting a damage and recoil buff from its pre-care package stats.

The Hop-Up attachment Disruptor Rounds are back. They can be found as ground loot and can be attached to the Alternator and Peacekeeper. Disruptor Rounds do extra damage against shields.

The Rampage and R99 will be released from the Crafting stations and will be ground loot while the Mozambique with Hammer Points and the Nemesis will now be in the Crafting rotation.

Ranked Changes

Last season’s Ranked changes were a massive overhaul and the implementation of hidden player MMRs meant the new system needed time to calibrate. Respawn has made some changes to Ranked for Season 18 by increasing ring damage from the first circle and raising the speed between circle closures. This does mean slightly shorter games but more time actively playing and not ratting or waiting it out between circle closures.

Eliminations in Ranked matches have been buffed so the bonuses give you more points and a minimum elimination bonus has been added for all ranks that works off the player’s MMR. You can always be getting points off of your eliminations which is going to be a big element in grinding through each Rank.

Players in the Diamond rank and above will have increased LP losses and decreased rating bonuses and loss mitigations. Player gains of LP have been adjusted down across the board but each elimination will help your bonus. In terms of new Ranked rewards, there will not be any more dive trails. Instead, dive trails will be replaced by new banner frames.

Gameplay Additions

Mixtape game modes will be getting a new map setting from different location sin Broken Moon. Gun Run and Team Deathmatch will be on The Core and Control will be in Production Yard. There will also be a special Death Dynasty Collection Event that will have special double XP dates from August 8-15 for Battle Royale and August 15-22 for Mixtape. This collection event will have 24 cosmetics that, when all are collected, will unlock Revenant’s new Death Grip Heirloom.

Apex Legends Season 18 Resurrection will arrive August 8th at around 10 AM PT/1 PM ET.
