Comic books have a long history of alliterative names that started with the earliest comic strips and has continued to this day in the medium's modern format. Most comic book historians regard Lee Falk as the first cartoonist to come up with an alliteration with his timeless creation, Mandrake the Magician, in 1934. But it was Stan Lee who made the trope popular while working at Marvel in the '60s, coming up with catchy names to make them more memorable. From then, it has become more of a running gag for comic book publishers to come up with alliterations — the more comedic, the better.
