Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker wrapped up the Skywalker Saga in 2019, and Lucasfilm quickly turned its attention to Disney+. Star Wars isn't expected to return to the big screen until May 2026, and there's a good chance the wait will get prolonged due to the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes. Since the Skywalker Saga's conclusion, Lucasfilm has also been trying to figure out what's next for Star Wars theatrically. It was initially announced Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron would be the next film, but that project has been put on ice.
