Over a year after its official announcement, Xbox Cloud Gaming is finally available for Meta Quest users.

As a new blog post detailed, Meta Quest 2, 3, or Pro headsets now have access to the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta app. The post also sheds light on many questions many had over a year after its announcement, including how Quest owners can access it.

Meta Quest owners will need to have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs $16.99 a month (new members can get the first two weeks for $1 before it converts to the monthly fee) to use the Xbox Cloud Gaming app on their VR headsets.

Meta also reveals that the Quest controllers will not be supported when using the Xbox Cloud Gaming app, revealing that you will need to use a supported controller to stream games on the cloud service. The price may be a bit steep for some who strictly own a Meta Quest headset, as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate provides access to not only Xbox Cloud Gaming but also the libraries of Xbox Game Pass for consoles and PC Game Pass.

Some of the controllers that support Xbox Cloud Gaming on Meta Quest include the Xbox wireless controllers, the PS4's DualShock 4, and the Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, as a few examples, while the PS5's DualSense controller will be added to the support list "in the future."

In our review of Xbox Cloud Gaming, we said: "A slippery selection of games and frustrating technical issues hold Xbox Cloud Gaming shy of greatness – but just barely."
