The Transformers franchise has had fans ever since 1984, with many of those initial fans going on to enjoy subsequent generations and continuities of the property. At the same time, there have been some series that were more contentious than others, with the so-called "Beast Era" being the perfect example of this. Though Beast Wars: Transformers ended up becoming a fan-favorite, that wasn't the case with its sequel show.
