Memorial Day comes around at the end of each May, and it brings deals from many retailers, whether you decide to visit physical store locations or hunt around online. If you are a wi-fi purchase warrior like me, and you like ordering awesome stuff from your couch, you are in luck; there are a litany of deals to be had.
I've long said that there are a few things you don't go cheap on; toilet care (bidet for life), desk chairs, and beds. The average person spends almost half their life in bed, so sleeping a high quality mattress can dramatically improve your life, making it easier getting to sleep and staying there, which means more energy during the day. Memorial Day, for whatever reason, is probably the best day of the year for mattress deals, and we've gathered the best so you can put your best foot forward when morning comes.
TLDR Best Mattress Deals Today
DreamCloud Mattress Deals
DreamCloud has the highest discounts right now, with 50% off across the board. The most affordable is a hybrid mattress (foam and springs) twin size for just $419 (down from $839), and a DreamCloud Premier Memory Foam (no springs) mattress at the highest 'Split King' size is just $1,798 (down from $3,398). So far, this represents the best spread of options and discounts, and there are even comprehensive bundles that get you everything you need from bedding, frame, mattress, and other options, also 50% off.
Tuft & Needle Mattress Deals
Tuft & Needle only has a few mattresses on sale, but they have a nice price variety. The least expensive (the Essential T&N Original) is just $516 (down from $645) and the most high-end bed on offer is $1,894.35 (down from $2,595). While the discounts aren't as steep as DreamCloud, if you just need a cheap mattress to get the job done, this is another option. Discount code 'MATTRESS15' can save 15% you more at checkout.
Casper Mattress Deals
The cheapest mattress you can get from Casper is The One, which is just $610, but they have sizeable discounts on all of them, including nearly $1,000 discounts on the high end Snow Max (now $2,185).
What To Look For In A Mattress
A few things you need to take note of when buying a mattress; size, firmness, and budget. For size, you'll want to make sure to measure your space before making a purchase. The last thing you want (trust me) is to have the mattress show up, only to realize it doesn't fit your bedframe or (even worse) through your door!
While there are other sizes, which have diferent dimensions, mattresses generally fit into the following size categories, from smallest to largest:
- Single (smallest), Twin, Queen, King, California King (biggest)
Once you have a handle on what size you need, you'll need to determine how firm you want your mattress. Do you like to sink down into an almost hammock-like bed, or would that make your neck and back hurt? If you need more support, go for a firmer mattress. If not, lux it up with a pillow-top soft mattress and sink into it.
Budget is the last, but certainly not the least important consideration. This can make or break your purchasing decision, but I will tell you that while I balked at the price of a premium mattress I bought when I got married (it was one of the more expensive things I had bought for myself), I have never once regretted the quality of sleep it's given me. I've had it for 11 years and it still has plenty of life in it. When you lie down on your bed, you should instinctively exhale, feeling the stress melt away. If it does, you know you've got a keeper. Happy hunting!
