The Boys is known for many different things. Over-the-top gore, violence, and political takedowns, all feature in Prime Video's superhero show. But one of the aspects that it's perhaps best known for is making references to modern superheroes, looking to all the films that studios have produced on the subject and mocking them in some slight way. It's a nod to the fans of the genre, and the chance to poke some light fun. Gen V, a spin-off show to The Boys, continues this in a similar vein, extending the referencing and poking fun at the streaming world.
