Marvel’s The Fantastic Four is finally underway, with actor Pedro Pascal sharing an image of the cast on Instagram.
The photo, below, shows Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm), and was posted alongside the message to fans: “Our first mission.”
The wording of Pascal’s message has already set tongues wagging on the potential for The Fantastic Four sequels, although Marvel has yet to announce such a plan.
The Fantastic Four, due out July 25, 2025, is directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, and also stars Ralph Ineson as supervillain Galactus. It’s a 1960s-period piece set in an alternate MCU timeline, which could set the stage for variant heroes to appear (similarly to the debut of Earth-838's Illuminati in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Julia Garner is reportedly playing "an alternate version" of Silver Surfer, suggesting that this is the version from Earth-X — one of Marvel's most notable alternate realities.
The movie also kicks off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the release of Phase 5 ender Thunderbolts* in May 2025. Phase 6 also includes Blade and two Avengers movies. Marvel may solidify its plans at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.
It's a busy time for Pedro Pascal, who's set to star in Gladiator 2 in November, and The Last of Us Season 2, which is set for 2025.
