Dr. Stone combines traditional shonen tropes, like the power of friendship and hope, strong edutainment about hard science, and even some partial isekai elements. These three factors dominate Dr. Stone's narrative and the anime's protagonist, Senku Ishigami, is a bluntly unsentimental hero who lets science and discovery guide him. Still, even Senku has a human heart, which is beautifully expanded upon in the manga's epilogue chapters.
