In the vast lore of The Lord of the Rings, there are a plethora of characters that wield massive amounts of power. From the Dark Lord Sauron all the way to the ancient dragons such as Smaug. Yet, there are many creatures just as powerful that do not get enough attention. Or, more accurately, they do not get the appropriate amount of attention on origins and nature. This, of course, is in reference to the Maiar, one of the most powerful classifications of beings within the world of Arda, and a people that are still very much relevant today by the time the Fellowship of the Ring was formed.
