It may be a new year, but more importantly for LEGO fans, it’s a new month. The first of each month is when the Danish brick-building company typically releases new batches of LEGO sets. This month is no different, with a decent number of new releases that will likely be noteworthy to you all. Let’s take a look.

LEGO X-Men X-Jet

This set definitely looks awesome, and it ties into the upcoming X-Men ’97 TV series that many fans are looking forward to. The only real problem is the value. It’s composed of just 359 pieces, yet it costs $84.99. Seems expensive for what you’re getting, but if you can justify the price, it’s a nice looking set.

LEGO Bouquet of Roses

The LEGO flower sets are surprisingly popular with IGN readers -- though I suppose it should come as no surprise. They look nice, they don’t need to be watered, and you can get creative in how they’re situated and displayed. This set is a particularly good one to pick up for your significant other as a Valentine’s Day gift.

LEGO Pac-Man Set is Available at Amazon

It came out a few months ago on the LEGO Store, but the LEGO Pac-Man Arcade set is finally available on Amazon. It features a pretty cool mechanism that makes it look like the spherical hero is actually navigating the level. It also includes a cool micro version of the cabinet as an Easter egg. LEGO Dune Ornithopter Is Available for Preorder

This one went up on Amazon a while back, but its release date draws ever closer. It’s an incredible looking set based on the insectoid flying vehicles in the Dune universe. It even comes with eight minifigures, including an imposing one for Baron Harkonnen. The LEGO Dune Ornithopter set is out out February 1, several weeks before Dune: Part Two hits the big screen.

LEGO Minifigures Series 25

I always enjoy new batches of minifigures. Series 25 is comprised of 12 new characters, including Film Noir Detective, Fierce Barbarian, and Triceratops Costume Fan. These characters might not be as iconic as the previous Marvel minifigure series, but they’re delightful nevertheless.

LEGO Spider-Man’s Mask

The latest in the series of LEGO masks/helmets made for display is Spider-Man’s mask. In terms of being iconic, it’s right up there with the buildable helmets for Darth Vader and the Mandalorian.

LEGO Rocket & Baby Groot

While we’re in the LEGO Marvel universe, the other coolest release this month is this buildable set for Rocket and Baby Groot. Groot is just a minifigure, but Rocket is a fully buildable creation that looks quite a bit better than some of the other buildable superheroes, in my estimation.

LEGO Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera

Instant cameras have gone through numerous cycles of popularity since their introduction many decades ago. They’re back these days, largely thanks to the Fujifilm Instax line, but this LEGO set showcases the classic Polaroid OneStep SX-70 camera from the 1970s. It’s a cool set that includes the camera itself, plus a film pack and three illustrated photos of minifigure-ized versions of Polaroid inventor Edwin H. Land, among others.
