One of the most prevalent issues with the dialogue in Bethesda games is that it often presents players with only two choices. During many of their conversations with NPCs in a Bethesda title, players can either speak to those NPCs in a respectful, polite manner, or they can simply abandon all propriety for something unnecessarily hostile and repulsive. While this certainly makes it easier for players to accurately identify which route to take to shape their character to their preference, this choice of only "good" or "evil" doesn't leave much room for ambiguity, and it could be argued that social mechanics such as these hold back Bethesda titles from even more compelling narratives and meaningful interactions.
