Star Wars Film From Marvel Studios Boss Definitely Isn't Happening

The Star Wars film from Marvel Studios' president Kevin Fiege is officially not happening despite Disney announcing it in 2019.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Feige finally confirmed reports that his Star Wars film is cancelled. Though he did talk more about upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe entry The Marvels and the incoming X-Men, when asked if his Star Wars film was happening, the Marvel boss simply replied: "No."

This followed a report from March 2023 that suggested both Feige's and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins' Star Wars films were scrapped, and after a lot of mixed messaging in general surrounding upcoming projects in the galaxy far, far away.

This is because Lucasfilm and Disney have announced several Star Wars films that all lack release dates, titles, and any real plot details. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi "is still working away" on a film that was announced in 2020, for example, but as of June 2023 was missing a middle despite him claiming the story was finished two years prior.

Star Wars: Episode 8 - The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has an entire trilogy of films announced too, but these were not being actively developed as of April 2023. The trilogy was announced even before The Last Jedi was released in theatres back in November 2017, and is set to include brand new characters and stories.

The three most likely films to actually come out were announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, though still lack actual release dates and titles. One comes from The Mandalorian and Ahsoka's Dave Filoni and will likely wrap up the stories which began in those Star Wars TV shows, while another from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold looks to tell the story of the beginning of The Force.

Finally, Sequel Trilogy star Daisy Ridley is set to return as Rey Skywalker in a movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, taking place 15 years after Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker.
