Glen Powell, the Texas-born actor who starred in films such as Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You, Hit Man, and most recently, Twisters, has been cast as a guest star for the first Family Guy Halloween special.
As reported by Variety, during a panel at SDCC 2024 to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary, it was confirmed that Powell had been cast to join as a guest star for the upcoming Family Guy Halloween special, which is set to premiere exclusively on Hulu on October 14.
Powell is set to play Patrick McCloskey, who is described as a reigning champion in Quahog's annual Pumpkin Contest. In addition to Powell, Gladiator actor Derek Jacobi has been cast as a guest star, voicing Rupert, the teddy bear belonging to Stewie Griffin.
As Variety notes, this marks the first time Fox's adult animated series is getting a holiday-themed special. A Christmas-themed special will also be released on Hulu sometime during the 2024 Holiday season.
These two holiday specials are set to fill the void for fans as they patiently wait for Family Guy to return for its 23rd season, following the conclusion of the 22nd season in mid-April. In addition to two themed holiday specials and Powell's casting in the Halloween special, the panel also revealed new details about the upcoming season, which confirmed that the show will include episodes that parody TV and movies such as Top Gun, Lord of the Rings, and The White Lotus.
