The viewership numbers for Star Wars: Ahsoka's first episode on Disney+ are on track with Andor but down 50% from the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
According to data from viewership-tracking organisation Samba TV, 1.2 million households watched the first episode of Ahsoka, Master and Apprentice, in the U.S. within its first six days of availability.
This matches the 1.2 million who watched the critically-acclaimed Andor premiere in September 2022, is slightly lower than The Mandalorian's Season 3 premiere of 1.7 million in March 2023, and is down 50% from Obi-Wan Kenobi's 2.4 million in May 2022.
"Disney+ continues to find success with live-action Star Wars series, with Ahsoka serving as the latest show to draw in more than one million households across its first six days," Samba TV's VP of measurement portrayal Cole Strain told Deadline.
"Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of the Jedi shows that not only are fans eager for more adventures in the Star Wars universe, but that they’ll gladly watch shows led by female characters. With women serving as five of the six main characters, this opens a new chapter in the Star Wars saga."
Ahsoka having fewer views than Obi-Wan Kenobi is unsurprising since the 2022 show featured the return of one of the Prequel Trilogy's biggest characters, with Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan perhaps only falling short to the likes of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker or Frank Oz's Yoda.
One beloved prequel character is all but confirmed to return in Ahsoka, however, which may attract a more mainstream Star Wars audience. The titular character has mainly appeared in animated shows until now, including The Clone Wars and Rebels, though did make a brief appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2.
