The Walking Dead universe isn't a stranger to some unfriendly plot armor. The Walking Dead used it occasionally to protect its fan-favorite characters and Fear the Walking Dead almost always uses it for convenience. Of course, Daryl Dixon couldn't shy away from it either, even if it breaks every rule in the TWD handbook.
