If, for some reason, you've ever wanted to relive the history of Atari in game show form, I have some good news.

Atari has announced (as first reported by Deadline) that's making a celebrity game show focused on its brand, tentatively titled The Great Atari Celebrity Showdown. Not much is known about the specific format the game show will take, but the press release did reveal that executive producers Jay Blumenfield and Tony Marsh are tapped to create the series. The pair previously served as executive producers on shows such as ABC's Here Come the Newlyweds and Showtime reality series Gigolos.

"We're beyond excited to partner with Atari to bring you the ultimate celebrity game show, with all the drama, comedy, and nostalgia that comes with it," Blumenfield said in the press release. "This show celebrates the history of gaming, the culture of entertainment, and the joy of competing like we're kids -- it's one the whole family won't want to miss!"

Atari, of course, was formed in the early 1970s and is known for creating products such as arcade games like Asteroids and Pong, and the video game console Atari 2600. Alongside a TV show, Atari revealed last month that another project focused on its brand is headed to the small screens: a limited docuseries titled Game Changers: The Story of Atari, which will reflect on Atari's over 50-year history and its "anticipated future."

In our review of Atari 50, a video game compilation and interactive documentary focused on Atari's history to commemorate its formation in 1972, we said: "Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration offers a completely new, very fun way to explore several decades of Atari arcade machines, consoles, handhelds, and PCs."
