Even though some deride shonen anime for its formulaic nature, there's a reason it's still one of the most popular genres. That’s largely due to the fact that most shonen series know what they’re best at and stick to it — impressive fight scenes, strong and often likable character archetypes, and powerful stories surrounding themes of friendship, family, and being an all-around decent person.
