Breath of the Wild's version of Hyrule, and Tears of the Kingdom's by extension, is essentially a love letter to the Zelda series. As such, every part of its world, from the characters to the locations where they live, are inspired by the classic games in Zelda's history. Wind Waker is one such classic game that has a big impact on the world of Hyrule seen in both BOTW and TOTK.
