The biggest gaming news today isn't even really gaming news at all. Nintendo officially announced that it will be selling an interactive alarm clock. The official name for the new Nintendo device is Alarmo, and it is perhaps one of the most annoying things I've ever seen. The clock features motion sensor technology that responds to your movements and starts playing some of the most irritating Nintendo noises imaginable to help you get out of bed. It also costs a whopping $100, which is twice as much as the new Amazon Echo Spot right now.
You can check out the official announcement trailer for the new Nintendo Alarm clock below and decide for yourself how to feel about this.
Personally, I have very strong feelings about how I wake up and know that this particular device is not for me. I love Nintendo games, but being woken up by coin collecting noises would likely slowly chip away at that every morning until I can no longer look Mario in the face without getting upset.
I tend to just use the alarm clock on my phone to wake up in the morning and that works just fine. If you like the idea of a smart alarm clock, however, I would like to propose an alternative that is currently less than half the price of an Alarmo. The brand-new Echo Spot is on sale for just $44.99 right now and comes with a free smart light bulb.
Echo Spot Deal at Amazon
This deal is part of Amazon's October Prime Day sale and will end tonight. The 2024 Echo Spot is voice- and app-controlled and can connect with other smart home devices. For example, you can connect it to the smart bulb that comes with it and have it turn the light on for you in the morning. You can also choose to have it wake you up with gentle sounds or music. At a discounted $44.99 price, this is the smart clock I'd recommend buying if you truly do need one.
