Todd McFarlane used comics as a springboard to business success. Starting his career at Marvel, he made a name for himself on The Incredible Hulk, but The Amazing Spider-Man is where he became a megastar. Marvel even launched Spider-Man just for him, but it wasn't enough to keep him at the publisher. McFarlane led the Image exodus, creating a place for creators to own their own work.
